Delaware State Police Investigating Robbery of Convenience Store- Newark

Newark– Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Newark area convenience store that occurred last night.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2022, troopers responded to the 7-Eleven, located at 699 East Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, for an armed robbery. The investigation determined a male suspect entered the store and approached an employee behind the sales counter. The suspect requested a pack of cigarettes, and subsequently displayed a handgun while demanding money from the cash register. The employee complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a black male approximately 50 years old, 5’8”-5’10” tall, wearing all dark clothing, a mask, and armed with a black handgun.
