Delaware State Police Arrest Elkton Man for Drug Store Robbery- Newark

Newark– The Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Charles Ndikum of Elkton, MD, for Robbery and related charges.

The incident occurred on November 23, 2020, at approximately 12:31 p.m., when Charles entered Rite Aid located at 4607 Stanton Ogletown Road, Newark, and approached a 28-year-old victim/employee working at the sales counter. Charles pointed a black handgun at the employee and demanded all the cash. The employee complied, and Charles fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

Through investigative means, troopers were able to track the suspect traveling on a DART bus on Route 4 in the area of Salem Church Road. Troopers initiated a traffic stop and took Charles into custody without incident. Upon taking Charles into custody, troopers recovered a black handgun style BB gun and the stolen cash.

Charles was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Possession or Control of a Firearm if Previously Convicted (Felony)
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)

Charles was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $146,000 cash bond.
